The IBU trials to select a Mixed Team to play in the WBF Championships in Poland in September take place on this coming Sat and Sun June 4th and 5th.

To get you in the mood for our Congress (10-12 June), FOB will continue with the last in a series of 3 Advanced Classes tonight Thursday night (26th May).  These classes will be intensive with the aim of offering some helpful tips in the areas of bidding, play and defence.  Learn a few new conventions, learn how to defend against your opponent’s conventions and get those annoying questions answered for once and for all.  There is always something new to learn.  Southern Hotel 7.30 to 9.30.  All welcome.

 

 

 

Heartiest Congratulations to newly crowned 'National Champions' – Ann-Marie Tuohy, Mary Lipsett, Pat Lyons and Pat O'Sullivan winners of the National Intermediate 'B' Teams Championship in Athlone at the weekend.  The North-West Region also  won the National Intermediate 'A' Teams Championship with the team of Flor Higgins, Carmel Costello, Frances Burke and Fr. Gabriel Murphy.  A second Sligo team won the prize for the 'Best A2' Team (Denise Cassidy, Anne-Marie Keaney, John Scanlon and Dave Flanagan).  And to top it all off our Master Team (Eileen O'Connor, Tommy Banks, George Brennan and Michael Morrisonn) finished in the top half of their event to ensure that the North-West Region won the overall prize.  Brilliant Stuff!.  Well done to all.

CBAI Marie Cummins Trophy – awarded to the Region that scores best over all three events

 

The Annual Lady Milne Trophy (Ladies Home International) took place last weekend in the La Mon Hotel and Country Club which is situated in the County Down countryside just 15 minutes from Belfast City Centre.  This event is contested annually by England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and NIBU.

North-West Champions

Congratulations to Gladys Sheridan and Eileen O’Connor who won the North West President’s Prize in Strokestown at the weekend.  This victory rounds off a very successful year for both ladies.  There was a capacity attendance of 64 pairs in action to honour Regional President Angela McGrath.

 

We are also praying for Moira Moylan who needs our prayers at this time.
